Free for Museum members and donors
Join us for an exclusive viewing of this beautiful exhibition showcasing the influence of music in Jerry Pinkney’s life and work. Pinkney is celebrated as one of America’s greatest watercolorists and preeminent illustrators who transformed children’s literature by making it inclusive of Black histories. His optimistic view was that through art and music, we can find common ground and heal the wounds of our shared past.
The evening will begin at 5:30 pm with hors d’oeuvres in the Great Hall. From 6:30–7:30 pm guests will be treated to a conversation in the Auditorium with Associate Curator Isabel Ruiz Cano, Brian Pinkney, and Andrea Davis Pinkney. The evening will conclude at 8 pm and Soul, Sound, and Voice will be open to the public the following day.
This exhibition is co-organized with the Woodmere Museum of Art.
