After witnessing a colleague’s bookstore forced closure due to book-banning, Andrew Laties began to write You’re Telling My Kids They Can’t Read This Book? Revealing the perspectives of authors, publishers, educators, librarians, parents, students, and booksellers, Laties urges readers to join the battle against book-banning by launching community book festivals, by self-publishing, and by engaging in civic and journalistic activism.

Author and Northampton School Committee member Tiffany Jewell will moderate a panel discussion on book bans and challenges, inspired by Andrew’s book. Panelists include:

  • Andrew Laties, author, activist bookseller, and co-owner of Book & Puppet Company
  • Waleska Centeno-Santiago, school librarian at Crocker Farm Elementary School
  • Alex Gino, author and LGBTQIAP+ activist
  • Hannah Moushabeck, author and co-owner of Interlink Publishing

A book signing with all authors will follow the program. Can’t make the event? You may reserve autographed books online.
