Join us for a day celebrating multilingual storytelling and music!

Join students from Tal Goldfajn’s Community, Storytelling, and Translation course at UMass-Amherst for a day of interactive bilingual storytelling in English, Portuguese, Spanish, and more. The day will also include live Brazilian music and traditional children’s songs in Portuguese from the band BR413. Click the flyer link for a more detailed schedule of the day’s programs.

Spanish & Portuguese Studies at UMass: Community, Storytelling, and Translation

A collaboration between the Spanish and Portuguese Studies program and The Carle, Tal Goldfajn’s Community, Storytelling, and Translation course seeks to strengthen community by celebrating linguistic diversity. Trained in The Carle’s Whole Book Approach, students are exploring how to use picture books to engage children in bilingual storytelling.

Tal Goldfajn

Tal Goldfajn is a linguist, translator and translation scholar. She is an Assistant Professor at the University of Massachusetts Amherst in the Spanish and Portuguese Studies department. Together with her students at UMass Amherst she founded the Pipa Project initiative for the promotion of translated children’s literature and multilingual storytelling.
