Color Quest 2: The Shape of Things
Pay as you wish!
Join us for an evening of color and community!
What can a circle become? What happens when a triangle moves, turns, or joins another shape?
Inspired by Eric Carle’s Modernist Inspirations as part of The Carle After Dark series, the second evening in our three-part Color Quest series invites families to explore how artists use simple shapes to build images, suggest movement, and create entirely new worlds.
Throughout the Museum, design challenges will encourage families to experiment with balance, scale, repetition, and composition while adding new ideas to their growing Artist’s Palette from the Color Quest series.
In the Art Studio, artists of all ages can continue the exploration through open-ended collage and shape-based making inspired by Eric Carle’s process. A collaborative shape experience will also grow over the course of the evening.
Storytimes at 4:30, 5:30, and 6:30 p.m. will feature books that play with shape, pattern, and visual transformation, while live music and light refreshments create a relaxed atmosphere for exploring the Museum after hours.
Come turn, stack, shift, and rearrange your way through an evening of creative possibility—and see just how much can begin with a single shape.
Live music is sponsored by Northampton Jazz Fest and produced by Nate Gowen.
