The Carle is preparing The Precious Things We Share: The Past, Present, and Future of Indigenous Picture Book Art, a 2027 exhibition celebrating and centering North American Indigenous picture book artists and their contributions to children’s literature curated by Dr. Lee Francis IV (Laguna Pueblo).
Museum staff members are excited to invite members from local, regional, and other Indigenous communities to come together and learn more about the project from Guest Curator Dr. Lee Francis IV (joining virtually), Associate Curator, Isabel Ruiz Cano, and Director of Operations, Alexandra de Montrichard. Make connections, enjoy light refreshments, and share ideas, feedback, and questions!
The program will start in the Reading Library with a tour of Entwined Memory: Indigenous Stories of Creation, Place, and Continuity led by Eleanor Owl Stolzoff. She curated the book exhibition as part of the Museum’s Special Project Trinkett Clark Internship.
