Barbara Elleman will share some of the treasured items she amassed over the course of her thirty-year career in the children’s literature field, along with more recent additions to the library.

Barbara Elleman

Before being named Distinguished Scholar of Children’s Literature at Marquette University, Barbara Elleman served as an editor of Booklist magazine and founder of Book Links. Her list of authored books includes Tomie dePaola: His Art and His Stories (1999), Holiday House: The First Sixty-Five Years (2000), Virginia Lee Burton: A Life in Art (2002), and The Worlds of Tomie dePaola (2021). Together with her husband Don, Barbara donated over 1,000 books to The Carle, where her reference collection about children’s literature resides in the Barbara Elleman Research Library (BERL).
