The Carle is developing a 2027 exhibition celebrating and centering North American Indigenous picture book artists and their contributions to children’s literature (with support from a Museums for America grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services).

The Carle welcomes members of the Indigenous community to learn more about the art exhibition from guest curator, Dr. Lee Francis IV, Ph.D. (Pueblo of Laguna) aka Dr. IndigiNerd, Founder of the Indigenous Imagination Workshop, Indigenous Comic Con, Native Realities, and Red Planet Books and Comics. Special Project Trinket Clark Intern Eleanor Stolzoff will join him to talk about the Reading Library exhibition on Indigenous picture books that she is working on this summer, which is scheduled to open in August 2025.

Make connections, and share ideas, feedback, and questions!
