Please join us for a special Members’ evening celebrating The Art of Grace Lin: Meeting a Friend in an Unexpected Place, on view June 14, 2025–January 4, 2026. This career retrospective of more than 80 works celebrates all aspects of Lin’s creativity with original art, sketches, manuscripts, and videos.

Enjoy light refreshments and a visit to the exhibition before a 6:30 pm conversation in the Auditorium between Grace and Guest Curator Melissa Hung.

Who You'll Meet

Grace Lin

Grace Lin is an award-winning and NY Times bestselling author/illustrator of picture books, early readers and middle grade novels, including her Newbery Honor Where the Mountain Meets the Moon, her Geisel Honor Ling & Ting, her National Book Finalist When the Sea Turned to Silver, and her Caldecott Honor A Big Mooncake for Little Star. In 2022, Grace was awarded the Children’s Literature Legacy Award from the American Library Association.

Melissa Hung

Melissa Hung is a writer and journalist. She is the founding editor in chief of Hyphen, an independent Asian American magazine. Her essays and reported stories have appeared in NPR, Longreads, Vogue, and the anthologies Body Language and Disability Intimacy. Melissa grew up in Houston, the eldest child of Chinese immigrants, and lives in New York City.
