Join co-author Kyle Lukoff as he shares his new picture book, If You’re a Kid Like Gavin, a powerful memoir of transgender activist Gavin Grimm and his fight for civil rights after his school discriminated against him for being trans. This book shows you’re never too young to be an activist and offers an empowering example for children who experience or witness injustice in their own lives.

Author Kyle Lukoff

Kyle Lukoff

Kyle Lukoff is the author of many books for young readers. His debut middle-grade novel, Too Bright To See, received a Newbery Honor, the Stonewall Award, and was a National Book Award finalist. His picture book When Aidan Became A Brother also won the Stonewall. While becoming a writer he worked as a bookseller for ten years, and then nine more years as a school librarian.
