The Best Art Project Ever with Guest Artist Huck Scarry
A few weeks ago artist Huck Scarry, the son of beloved picture book creator Richard Scarry, visited The Carle for the best art project ever!
Huck was visiting the United States from his home in Austria and was at The Museum to demonstrate how to draw all his favorite Busytown characters, including Lowly Worm and Huckle Cat on the big back wall in The Art Studio. As you can see in the photo below, we had the room full of eager participants following Huck step by step.
The latest Richard Scarry book, Best Lowly Worm Book Ever!, was discovered unfinished by Huck Scarry three years ago and Huck worked in the same style of his father to complete the book.
For an hour Huck drew, and drew,
and we all followed along with him!
Huck was quite impressed with what guests created.
Brothers, sisters, moms and dads; everyone joined in to draw.
Below, I asked Craig to choose his favorite drawing for me to photograph, but it was too hard to pick just one, so he showed me all his drawings instead!
After drawing, Huck signed books in the Great Hall, with Lowly Worm by his side.
Stop by The Studio to see Huck’s Busytown’s mural on your next visit. Thanks for visiting The Carle, Huck!
