Lender Requirements
Borrow an Exhibition
- Exhibitions are available for three-month loan periods.
- Borrowing institutions must send an AAM Standard Facility Report and meet the following requirements: ability to control and maintain a stable gallery environment (temperature of 70 degrees F ±2, relative humidity of 50% ±5%); ability to control and maintain light levels at 5 to 7-foot candles; and 24-hour security monitoring.
- Borrowing institutions pay a participation fee to The Carle.
- Borrowing institutions are responsible for insurance and round-trip shipping. A courier may be required.
- Borrowing institutions are responsible for the costs of installation, promotion, and public programs at their venue.
- Requests made with less than 12 months’ notice are subject to staff availability and may incur an expedited processing fee.
Borrow an Artwork
- Loans are generally made for a period of three-to-four months. All loans are subject to a loan fee.
- Borrowing institutions must send an AAM Standard Facility Report and meet the following requirements: ability to control and maintain a stable gallery environment (temperature of 70 degrees F ±2, relative humidity of 50% ±5%); ability to control and maintain light levels at 5 to 7-foot candles; and 24-hour security monitoring.
- In some instances, if the borrowing institution does not meet the necessary climate and/or lighting requirements, The Carle may be able to provide high-quality reproductions. Borrowers are responsible for the cost of facsimile production.
- Requests made with less than 12 months’ notice are subject to staff availability and may incur an expedited processing fee.
