Like a dandelion, I am strong and giving, planted happily in soil that I now call home.

Like a Dandelion

Plants are all around us and have been weaving their stories together with people for a long time. Plants sprout in both our imaginations and our soil, growing into stories that celebrate both human and non-human life on Earth. This library exhibition highlights plants as important members of our communities and includes titles that invite readers to consider their own experiences with plants, while offering possibilities for growing new connections with the natural world.

What to Expect

The exhibition features 45 picture books that highlight plants and the varied stories they tell. Books are divided into three thematic sections—Growing Gardens, Plant Protagonists, and Rooted Stories—and are arranged along shelves in the Reading Library for visitors to explore and read. Additional books displayed on library tables invite creative play and reflection.

A father and son are planting seeds and growing seedlings. They stand behind a table covered with envelopes of seeds, and seed trays full of plants. The young boy looks at a butterfly on a plant leaf growing in a glass jar.
