The Art of Eric Carle: Eric Carle Picture Writer

This exhibition explores the sources of some of Carle’s stories, his highly acclaimed collage technique, and a glimpse at some of the preliminary stages involved in the creation of a book. The exhibition also features examples of Carle’s non-book art, as well as recent acquisitions to the Museum’s permanent collection.

Eric Carle

Eric Carle illustrated brilliant and innovatively designed picture books for children, including his most well-known title, The Very Hungry Caterpillar. In 2002, Carle and his wife, Barbara, co-founded The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art.
