This is The Carle’s first multi-generational exhibition. Margot Zemach illustrated nearly 50 books in her career. She was a superb illustrator and a comic genius who inspired one of her children—Kaethe—to pursue the profession. While it is notoriously difficult for offspring to carry on in the footsteps of distinguished parents, Kaethe Zemach has done so in a manner totally original that nonetheless pays respectful homage to her mother.
