Flights Into Fantasy: The Kendra and Allan Daniel Collection of Children’s Illustration
The remarkable collection of Kendra and Allan Daniel focuses on the Golden Age of Illustration, a period between 1880 and 1940 that produced unprecedented excellence in book and magazine illustration. Drawings and paintings by Ernest H. Shepard (Winnie the Pooh and Piglet, 1926), Jean de. Brunhoff (Le Voyage de Babar, 1932), Ludwig Bemelmans (Madeline, 1939), Johnny Gruelle (Raggedy Ann in Cookieland, 1931), Jessie Wilcox Smith (Alice in Wonderland, 1923), Wanda Gàg (Snow White, 1938), Arthur Rackham (Little Miss Muffett, 1913), and Walter Harrison Cady (Adventures of Peter Cottontail, 1914), are among the superb works on view.
This exhibition was co-organized with the Brandywine River Museum.
