On a lazy summer day, Hector Fox and his friends watch a kite soar on the afternoon breeze and get a crazy idea: they also want to fly like a bird. Can the friends work together to design and build a flying machine? Can they find a brave pilot? And what happens if something goes wrong in the skies above Owl Hill? As their latest adventure unfolds, Hector Fox and his woodland friends realize it will also take a little bravery to save the day.  

Astrid Sheckels will read her latest picture book, Hector Fox and the Daring Flight (the third adventure in the Hector Fox series) and do a drawing demonstration. You can also download fun activities at www.hectorfox.com.

Astrid Sheckels

Astrid Sheckels, a native of western Massachusetts, has always enjoyed stories involving imaginary animals, so she felt right at home bringing an assortment of animals to life in her detailed watercolor illustrations. Her award-winning titles include Hector Fox and the Giant Quest, Nic and Nellie, The Fish House Door (illustrator), and The Scallop Christmas (illustrator). She describes her art as a mix of classic realism and whimsy.
