In their photographic picture book, Finding Home: Words From Kids Seeking Sanctuary, authors Gwen Agna and Shelley Rotner transcribe the words of children, from all corners of the world, as they were photographed and sharing their emotional journey. With joy and love, this book celebrates the resilience, hope and joy as these children and families embark on a new beginning—making friends, going to school and welcomed into communities.

Joining Agna and Rotner for storytime are some of the children photographed for the book. The authors will also share their motivation for creating Finding Home, answer questions from the audience, and invite the children from the book attending to join in with thoughts and answers to questions.

Who You'll Meet

Gwen Agna

Gwen Agna has been an educator for more than forty years. Trained in early childhood education, throughout her career she worked to incorporate social justice, anti-bias, and anti-racism in all aspects of classroom practice. She is dedicated to making the world a safe and happy one for all children.

Shelley Rotner

Shelley Rotner is an award-winning author and photo illustrator of over 50 children’s books that explore diversity and inclusivity about families and nature.
