Danielito, who lives in Mexico, is finally old enough to visit Bobe, his grandmother, by himself on Janucá. The kids in Bobe’s neighborhood play with Mexican tops called trompos. Danielito does not have a trompo, but he has a dreidel. Soon the trompos follow the dreidel as it spins through the neighborhood, and Danielito makes new friends, nuevos amigos. The Mexican Dreidel is a charming children’s book, written by Linda Elovitz Marshall and Ilan Stavans and illustrated by Maria Mola, that brings together Jewish and Latin American holiday traditions.
