If you were a horse, what would you do?

Gallop along with two-time Caldecott Medalist Sophie Blackall as she reads from her new book, If I Was a Horse, about a riotous day in the life of a child who imagines their life as a horse. What ensues are uproarious, resonant episodes that feature a giant horse in familiar settings offering both a visual feast, a grand dose of joy, and a celebration of the real power of imagination to help us navigate the world.

Artist Sophie Blackall

Sophie Blackall

Sophie Blackall is an award-winning illustrator of over 50 books for children, including the 2016 Caldecott Medal winner, Finding Winnie and the 2019 Caldecott Medal winner, Hello Lighthouse, which she also wrote. She has worked with UNICEF and Save the Children, UK on global health and literacy initiatives. Originally from Australia, she now splits her time between Brooklyn, New York, and the Catskill Mountains, where she has a retreat for the children’s book community called Milkwood Farm.
