After the Lunar New Year, the Moon Festival is the most celebrated holiday in Asian countries. In this virtual author visit for elementary school readers, award-winning author and illustrator Grace Lin will share the customs and traditions—and the stories!—of the Moon Festival.  Learn about Mooncakes and how they may have inspired the Fortune Cookie (as told in her book Chinese Menu: The History, Myths, and Legends Behind Your Favorite Foods) as well as the stories of the Moon Lady, the Crab of Thankfulness, and the Jade Rabbit! Grace will lead students in a draw-along of their own Crab of Thankfulness.

This 35-minute program concludes with a 10-minute Q&AASL will be provided.

Zoom link for one classroom to attend program at 1pm EST, on Friday, Sept 29—the date of the Moon Festival!— provided upon online purchase of  Grace’s new upcoming book Chinese Menu: The History, Myths, and Legends Behind Your Favorite Foods from The Carle Bookshop. Books will be signed. A recording will also be available for 2 weeks following the program date.
