Educator Workshop

The Five College Center for East Asian Studies and the Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art are pleased to present a workshop for K-12 in-service educators focusing on the special exhibition, Eric Carle ❤️ Japan.

Participants will tour the exhibition and learn about Carle’s collaboration with Japanese artist Kazuo Iwamura as well as his visits to picture book museums and other sites in Japan. This will be followed by a look at the Japanese language and its use in children’s picture books. The workshop will conclude with a hands-on project related to the exhibition.

Those who attend the entire workshop will receive a certificate of completion for 3 contact hours and Kazuo Iwamura’s picture book Hooray for Spring! Participants are invited to stay after the workshop to continue conversations over lunch (optional) and visit the rest of the museum.
