Ezra Jack Keats Honor winner Mariahadessa Ekere Tallie and Caldecott Honoree Aaron Becker will read and present their new picture book We Go Slow, a celebration of the quiet moments shared between a grandfather and granddaughter on their neighborhood stroll. Mariahadessa and Aaron will do a Q&A after the reading.

Who You'll Meet

Mariahadessa Ekere Tallie

Mariahadessa Ekere Tallie is an interdisciplinary artist, poet, and scholar who recently earned a Ph.D. in Theatre Arts and Performance Studies at Brown University. She is author of the Ezra Jack Keats Honor-winning children’s book Layla’s Happiness. A Queens, NY native, Dr. Tallie is the mother of three fantastic daughters; she lives with her wonderful husband Dominique and their cat companion Gucci in Providence, Rhode Island. Aaron Becker

Aaron Becker is the creator of the Caldecott Honor Book Journey and two follow-up books in the trilogy: Quest and Return. He is also the creator of A Stone for Sascha and the board books You Are Light and My Favorite Color. Aaron lives with his family in Amherst, Massachusetts.
